GREY BEAD EMBELLISHED NECKLACE:
This necklace was my first piece where I combined all of my favorite things together...beads, dolls, the Embellisher machine and free motion embroidery. The background fabric was made by punching organza and two yarns into wool felt on the Baby Lock Embellisher machine. Since the organza is not a natural fiber I was worried about it's texture lasting over time so I free motion embroidered with a metallic thread over the whole piece of fabric. This added a nice depth and texture. I cut a corner off of the fabric for a triangular shaped necklace and added an UTEE (Ultra thick Embossing Enamel) face made from a Maurine Carlson push mold. I then beaded around the face using peyote stitch. I wanted more around the face, so I added some beaded loops off of the peyote stitch. I then added two colors of gray Delica beads to the base fabric. these same beads were used around the edge of the finished necklace to secure the ultra suede backing in place. A simple round cord was uses to secure the necklace in place.
